the day

My third semester of architecture is about to end, studio final is in 4 hours.

Worked hard this semester, despite some times where i slacked off or chilled just a bit too much, but all in all, i gave my best.

Stayed up till 6am on average the past week, probably because of my "easy" profs last year, I have to admit I'm not that good at pulling all nighters. Not only does my body get ridiculousy uncomfortable, my urge to sleep definitely holds me back from working.

Currently sitting in the computer room, waiting for the plotting room to open so that i can obtain my final piece of the project - a sheet of 36" x 48" perspectives and site plan. I've waited for so long for this day, but 5 mins till the plotting room opens seems to be such a long period of time.

Anyways, I will tell you how my review goes tomorrow.

That is if i don't collapse before that.

1 week

Exactly one week before final presentation for studio.
The school has been really nice to us sophomores this year, letting us have our presentations right before thanksgiving break. I still remember last year in freshmen year, when all of us had to come back from thanksgiving break early in order to deal with the large amount of work load before the presentation.

Our project this semester was to design an Environmental Ethics Center on the edge of the ESF campus which also connects to the Oakwood Cemetery. I have developed a fairly cool project in my opinion, mainly thanks to Prof. Stenson, who supported most of my ideas and helped me reach this stage.

A 3D view of my design.

Wish me luck on the final critique next week guys, I definitely need it!

kal penn

This saturday, I went to a talk by Kal Penn on diversity in media. I first learned about him was when he starred as the hilarious Taj Mahal Badalandabad in Van Wilder 2, and then he was one of the doctors in House. Also, his role as Kumar in the movie - Harold and Kumar is one of the most imitated halloween characters. He is definitely the coolest indian after Russel Peters.

His show, or should I say talk, was about diversity in media nowadays. Most of his movies are mostly constructed from pure randomness, and he is always acting as the horny and awkward Indian. However, he says that his actions in the movies do not really reflect indians in general, as he is only playing a character with unique and specific characteristics. He also talks about a phenomenon, where asians/africanamericans (a.k.a minorities) are always stereotyped in movies or tv shows. Nerds, asexual, hypersexual, incompotent and weird accents are what people expect to see from minority actors. Kal thinks that this should be changed, and people should treat each actor as an individual character instead of sterotyping them by their ethnicity. What Kal talked about is actually very apparent, I mean, don't u realize asians that appear on tv are always thoses nerds with glasses or the ones that speak english with a huge accent?

Pledge party at ACACIA tonight, not much happened. Just a few beers and chilling.
When we were leaving, this antique mercedes benz had a hard time getting up the driveway, so I went over and helped. First time pushing a car with my bare hands, all i can say is, it is very tiring.

what's gone is gone

I've always admired the skill of the barber, how do they know where to cut and where not to?
I also admire their coolness, they act like everything is alright even though they made too much of a cut or accidentally cut off ur bangs...This whole haircut kind of thing is definitely not easy.

This weekend, I finally had the courage to cut the long and disgusting hair on my head. Despite talking about this for weeks, my hair has finally come to a point when hair clay and hair spray have basically no use at all.

So, I take up the trimming scissors, take a deep breath and start chopping.

Due to the nature of my personality, I like to rush through everything. And at most times, I tend to seek quantity instead of quality.

Maybe I should've treated my hair more seriously, maybe just a little bit.
Then maybe, the right side wouldn't be so short
And maybe my head would look balanced
And maybe my bangs wouldn't be so oddly placed.
And maybe I would look a bit less gross.

Sometimes I just wish life was like photoshop, a simple click of "ctrl-z" could give me my hair back.

I'm happy that my hair grows at a fairly high rate.

the big showdown

I still remember when the presidential elections took over the TV channels, cancelling or postponing my favorite TV shows...
I still remember when Obama kept on ignoring McCain's ignorant accusations during the debates...
I still remember when people talked about Palin looking like a milf...

Finally, the big day is here.

I was never really into politics or anything, but studying in the states and with such an important election going on, I'm actually really concerned about the outcome.

Listening to Barack Obama's speeches and seeing him in the debates, I would like to see him lead the US, and see what he can do to "change" the current situations. Which to be honest, is pretty bad, considering the pathetic economy, peace issues in the world, and what I consider really important - environmental issues. Not only does Obama's education qualification kicks ass, his confidence and belief in change definitely gives us reassurance and hope.

10:30 PM
Once again, my 2 favorite shows - Fringe and Without a trace are cancelled due to the election analysis programs... Owells, the battle of the two senators is actually pretty fun to watch.

According to CNN's projected results, Obama leads McCain by 206 to 89 electorial votes right now. With Obama winning the two of the five battlegrounds: Penn and Ohio, Obama has been given a big lead.

11:20 PM
America has spoken.
Barrack Obama has been selected as the President of the United States.
"Change has come to America"

Also, I always had this feeling that McCain looked like Dr. Evil in my favorite movie series- Austin Powers. So i went on to google, and guess what I found:

To be honest, I wouldn't want to see Dr. Evil (I mean McCain) leading the states.
Afterall, the laughter of Dr.Evil does piss me off.

halloween weekend

great weekend.

first of all, happy halloween to all!

Went to ACACIA's halloween party on friday night, it was weird to be packed on a dance floor full of transexuals, comic characters such as hell boy, joker, batman, sluts, lara croft, football players...etc, oh and R2-D2, that robot from star wars...

anyways, i wanted to be a nerd.
but apparently, i looked like the asian harry potter without the scar, broom and wand.

the 2 nurses, the asian harry potter, and the lost little kid

"oh, groovy baby"
haha, my hero - AUSTIN POWERS!
