back in hong kong once again.
actually i've been back since saturday night.
I don't really know how to describe hong kong...
hong kong is hong kong.
it's home here and its a place that i love and hate at the same time.
past 4 days has been alright, spending the day chilling and the night time fighting jet lag.
seems like time in hong kong is always trying to satisfy everyone's needs, aka spend time with family/girlfriend/friends/self ...
not sure what I want to acomplish during this short month, I guess all i want is time with the ones i love and get some rest?

exams week
Forgot to mention my final presentation before the thanksgiving break...
Fact 1:
Late nights in studio must involve caffeine in the form of either coffee or red bull.
Fact 2:
Other than caffeine, snacks and tobacco are other forms of relaxation for architecture students.
I find these sources exceptionally useful for "chillax"ing... when we are stressed out before a big due date or simply devastated after being raped/stomped/insulted by a studio professor.
Anyways, after a few days of intense designing, model building and drafting, I have been able to maintain a clean desk. Or not....

final model. Not a 100% satisfied with it, but i guess design is a process, and there's always space to improve.
One of the most important things I've learned after the final presentation: always glue your model onto your site model. This way, Prof. Rosa or any of his wannabes won't be able to take out your model and flip it backwards and say "now, isn't that better?"

Instead of pasta, noodles and dumplings... we are now capable of cooking more sophisticated food: chinese sausage with rice, and steamed eggs. (notice how smooth the egg is)
currently enjoying a tempura cheescake from Bleu Monkey and a Espresso Truffles from starbucks.... fattening yet extremely scrumptious....
After consuming so much sugar, it's probably time to get back to work.

the turkey and the city

Spent a wonderful thanksgiving break at Wendy's aunt's place with her cousins at Fort Lee, Jersey (yes, the NEW jersey) It was a weekend full of warmth and coziness, and of course we cannot forget, turkey and stuffing. No matter it was the times helping out in the kitchen, the times just sitting at the dining table eating fruits and chatting or the times where the few of us would play facebook poker in the attic, they were all very good times.
New York City was also a part of the itinerary.
It has certainly become a tradition to go shopping (or sweeping in other words) on Black Friday, where stores would sell their products at the lowest possible price.
As the boyfriend of a shopaholic, I was definitely forced to go shopping (or bag carrying) that day. The shopaholic wasn't just going shopping, but she had a mission (a tough one I would say): stimulate the US economy by digging deep into her parent's pockets and spend as much as she could. I'm sure she helped the economy in the end.

maybe just a little bit.
Having spent the whole day carrying bags, waiting outside shops and squished in the sea of people, the other end of the bargain was that I get to choose the destinations the next day.
So here are my choices:
Broadway

Right when we walk out of the Port Authority, I see two new buildings beside Renzo Piano's NYT building. The right one looks really elegant; about the one on the left, I have no comment other than one word - disturbing.

The red staircase is an installation of the TKTS in the center of Broadway. It acts as the box office for Broadway shows.
The New Museum

I heard the Simpsons inspired the artist.

And the majority of the day was spent at the MoMa.

"Good design is not always pretty"
That's true, but I would still prefer something pretty...
That's something to think about.

Broken dishes = art
I guess we all know what to do when we break moms expensive china.
Make art!

This is something I call "award winning photo".
At least to me.
Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving break.
After all that food, it's time to get back on track.
Christmas is just a 3 weeks (2 for me)
Now that's something to look forward to!
